Magic Tree House fun

Hi Kids,
Daniel Thompson and his mom stopped by the library this past Monday and found me trying to clean the place up! (It is almost clean.) They showed me a cool thing they found at Barnes and Noble this week--a Magic Tree House passport. Here is how it works--the store gives you a little booklet that contains stickers for all the Magic Tree House books. As you finish each one, you can add a sticker to your booklet until you've read every one of the books. This can be lots of fun. You could make your own sticker booklet or chart for any other series you might like to read if you can't get to Barnes and Noble this summer.

I am heading off on an adventure this weekend. I am going camping at the beach with my kids, my nieces and nephews, and some of my sisters. I will be interested to hear what my nieces are reading because they are in Kindergarten and 3rd grade and they LOVE books! I will let you know if I hear about anything great.

See you soon,
Ms. Paradis

New Books for the Summer!

Hi Kids,
It is SO HOT today that all I want to do is lie in a cool room with a good book. I hope you are staying cool.

As soon as school was over last week, I went shopping for new books for the Plympton Library. I found some more biographies from a series I really like called "Who Was". I bought "Who was Johnny Appleseed" and "Who Was Daniel Boone." These books seem to be perfect for kids who are getting into chapter books, and I'm going to look for more.

I also bought a book from a new series by Cornelia Funke called Ghost Hunters. In this series a ghost hunter named Hetty Hysop and her helper Tom work with a ghost named Hugo solve mysteries and problems involving dangerous ghosts. The stories are pretty silly and I predict kids will really like this series!

If you find a great new book this summer, let me know! I buy lots of books for the library in the summer and I'm always looking for good ideas!

Your reading pal!

Happy Summer!

Hi Plympton Kids,
I'm glad you found me here. I hope you are having fun and READING something fun. I love to read funny books. Do you? My favorite new funny book is called Clementine by Sara Pennypacker. She's the same author who wrote the books Stuart's Cape and Stuart Goes to School. Clementine has lots of adventures that might remind you of Junie B. Jones, Judy Moody, or Ramona Quimby. The book starts when she finds a friend trying to cut some glue out of her hair in the school bathroom. After Clementine finishes with her friend, she has no real hair, and her scalp is colored in with permanent red marker. Clementine doesn't see any problem here. I predict you'll love this book--no matter what grade you are in.

My question for you is--what is the funniest book you've read recently. Let me know so I can read it too! If you click on the word "Comments" here you will be able to write back to me.

I am going out to my hammock now to read some more books. I'll write again soon!
Your Library Pal,
Ms. Paradis
